The charger's solid construction with hollow slot is a big plus for battery access and cooling. It weighs 87.9g and measures 102.1 x 79.7 x 27.9 mm. The unit's compact size and curved design make it easy to carry on the go. The backlit display (L x W: 47.5 x 17.4 mm) is crystal clear with quite good viewing angles and brightness. In addition to AA contacts, each slot features extra contact points for AAA batteries. All contacts are perfectly aligned and hold the batteries securely in place. There are ventilation holes on left, right and bottom side. Heat dissipation is very good. I measured a max temperature of 31C at 24C room temperature. It helps extend the battery's lifespan. The included 74cm cable is also made by XTAR and the user manual is written in 11 languages. You can mix different brands, types, sizes, capacities of cells. It charges each of the 4 slots independetly (0.5A/slot). The L4 Pro instantly recognized every battery I put in it and automatically selected the proper charging currents. In 1.5V Li-ion (4 x AA) charging, I measured a max input of 1.95A 5.10V and 2 hours charging time, when using a 45W USB PD3.0 wall adapter as power source. Another major plus is the discharge, refresh functions to reactivate the full capacity of NiMH cells. It's really an impressive premium smart charger. Great for charging my AA AAA batteries and the screen is clear. Long press the button can switch mode, I haven't used the refresh mode yet, but I look forward to it.

I've tried many chargers over the years, but this one is by far the best. The quick refresh discharge feature clears memory effect and boosts capacity significantly. My wireless gaming mouse batteries last much longer now. The 4"x3" footprint takes almost no space on my desk. Five stars!

I'm a photographer and go through tons of AA batteries for my flash units. The independent slot charging is a game-changer – I can charge different types of batteries at the same time. I like the small compact size as well as the LCD display. Although I do not plan to charge NiMH batteries, I am like that this charger can charge both 1.5 Li-Ion as well as NiMH AA/AAA batteries. Each battery slot is independent of the other battery slots. I am took off 1 star rating for two issues.

1. One of the slots stopped charging correctly and it just displays an "Err" message. The other 3 battery slots continue to work well.

2. All 4 battery slots are not equally calibrated, so some slots may charge at a slightly higher voltage and other slots may charge at slightly lower voltages. There is no option to calibrate the slots by the end-user.

I was skeptical about the "revive" function at first, but it actually brought three of my old NiMH batteries back to life! The deep refresh cycle recovered them to over 80% capacity. Compact size fits perfectly in my kitchen drawer. This is my second XTAR charger and definitely not my last.
